About Us
SacTGC is an alliance of transgender groups who wish to strengthen the transgender community in Sacramento so we can collaborate to make changes and educate the general public about the proper terms and treatment of all transgender individuals, young and old.
Although the transgender community has gained visibility and achieved significant victories, prejudice and violence against transgender people remain all too common. Discrimination has been prohibited in several states, and private companies, while hate crime laws in eight states have been amended to include gender identity. We will not be treated as equals as long as our entire government does not recognizes us as functional human beings.
Most importantly, we wish to educate schools, the medical community, and other organizations about our transgender youth, who need our help most of all.
Transgender people are beginning to come out all over the world. The media is covering more transgender stories than ever before. To be given the same rights as the rest of the majority population we need them to understand that we have the same wants and desires as they do and we deserve the same rights as them. If ever there was a time for us to stand up and be noticed... Now is the time!
